1) Mindmap: Begin by creating a mind map in your sketchbook representing a broad range of ideas and topics related to your issue.
2) Research: Add at least 2 pages of research to your sketchbook. Research should include both writing and images. You can learn more about a specific topic, medium, art style, technique, etc
3) Thumbnails: Create at least 4 rough thumbnails exploring different ideas and compositions before starting your piece.
4) Inquiry Question: Narrow down your topic into a debatable question that you are exploring/answering.
