2.7 Watercolor Botanical Tondi
Objective
Use 3-color harmonies, the 60/30/10 design principle, and transparency while creating a circular botanical composition.
Tondo (Italian: “round”) plural tondi, a circular painting, relief carving, plaque, or mural design.
1) Create a mood board on a personal Padlet with inspirational watercolor paintings of plants and/or fungi.
2) Create 3+ color schemes using the 3-color harmony strategies below and following the 60/30/10 design principle.
3) Create 2+ sketches of your 2 compositions on scratch paper.
4) Paint your 2 tondi on mixed-media paper. Remember to use different transparency levels and follow your chosen color schemes.
