1.6 Contrast Diptych
Objective
Use elements such as value, color, size, and texture to create contrast to guide the viewer's eye in a painted diptych.
Read the article below and pick at least two types of contrast to represent in a diptych: two related yet contrasting panels. Each panel of your diptych will showcase a different type of contrast (e.g., one panel uses value contrast and the other uses color contrast). Select the pair you find most compelling. |
| Loosely sketch 3+ thumbnails of your ideas. Your composition should hinge on the chosen contrasts. For instance, if you choose value contrast, think about how stark lighting (bright highlights and dark shadows) can create tension or focus. |
