3.9 Landscape Painting

target
Objective

Paint a landscape that tells a story with a clear foreground, midground, and background.

1) Separate your detailed sketch into flat layers with the lasso and paint bucket tools.

2) Clip photographs to each layer to add a base layer of texture.

3) Color-correct the photos to more closely match your vision. Remember to use atmospheric perspective.

4) Paint with basic and texture brushes. Suggestion: focus on getting the foreground mostly done before moving to the midground, then background. Use large brushes first before moving to finer sizes.

5) Add final details and color dodge at the end.
