Objective

Learn basic retouching and practice masking by turning a portrait into a caricature

1) Color-correct your photo using the Camera Raw Filter.

2) Use the spot-healing brush on a new layer and remove any temporary blemishes.

3) Save your changes with a snapshot layer and complete the following steps:

  1. Select a feature and separate it onto its own layer
  2. Enlarge and align the feature
  3. Mask the edges so the skin blends together believably
  4. Repeat as needed

4) Add a solid color background and paint a light glow behind your head.

5) High-pass sharpen and “dodge and burn” to add depth.
