2.5 Fractured Still Life
Plan and paint a fractured still life following the cubism-meets-pop style of Romero Britto.
Pencil Composition:
- Find a photograph of a still life scene.
- Objects should mostly overlap each other
- Off-centered, non-symmetrical composition
Fracture:
- Divide your drawing into 20+ pieces using geometric or organic lines
- Keep “readability” in mind, don’t have too many concurrent fractures with the lines of your composition
Paint:
- To help gain unity, choose a dominant color style for your objects and another for your background
- Each object should stand out from each other and the background
- Paint each fracture a solid color with varying hues, tints, and tones from its neighbor
Pattern:
- At least 50% of fractures need a variety of patterns on top
- Take a photo of your finished artwork
