2.10 Mixed Media Collage

target
Objective

Explore mixed media and create a unified composition using proximity, repetition, and simplicity.

1) PROXIMITY
All objects are placed close to one another, which unites them into a group and helps the viewer perceive it as a whole.
2) REPETITION
Using the same shapes, colors, textures, or values throughout a piece to connect different parts of the artwork, making it feel more unified and complete.
3) SIMPLICITY
Limiting the variation of some elements of art in an artwork. A limited color palette but with a wide variety of texture is a great example.
Elements of Art: Line, Shape, Space, Value, Form, Texture, and Color

1) Choose an animal to create. If this is your 2nd time, choose a person.

2) Plan your collage on paper with pencil. Write down where you will use simplicity (and of which type).

3) Find or make the paper you’d like to use and cut it following your pencil drawing. Plan overlap strategically.

4) Paste the cut paper and paint as needed.

5) Finish your piece with a layer of Modge Podge.
