2.16 Split Self-Portrait

Objectives: Draw half a realistic self-portrait by looking in a mirror and drawing what they see and from learning about how the human face proportions. Draw the other side of their self-portrait abstractly by drawing who they think they are (not what they look like), using symbols, shapes, and objects.

  1. Review head and face proportions (female, male)
  2. Use a mirror/photos and measure facial features on paper
  3. Use graphite pencils and blending sticks to draw the right half of your head realistically
  4. Use colored pencils to draw the abstract left side (keep it looking like a face but use objects that represent your interests, skills, and personality).
