Objective

Use the grid format to emphasize the human face's capacity to convey many emotions.

Wear a white t-shirt (available in the studio if needed).

Use butterfly or loop lighting with a fill light to reduce shadows.

Take 32+ photos of yourself with the following facial expressions:

Frustrated

Choose your 16 best images that show 16 different emotions in Lightroom. Batch edit them for exposure, color, and square cropping.

Retouch as needed, though each photo will be pretty small so don’t stress about tiny details.

Lightroom: Select your edited photos and click the “Export” button in the bottom left of the library.

Add each to one of the following templates in Photoshop and export as a full size JPG.

Upload your photo into a gallery block on your WordPress.com website.

Below, restate the objective and describe how you approached the project.

Novice (50%)

Student does not complete all steps or submits work incorrectly.

Apprentice (80%)

Student completes most steps or there is some technical inconsistency.

Master (100%)

Student completes all steps with strong technical consistency (same lighting, focus, color, and subject placement).

Grandmaster (Extra Credit)

Student completes a 4x8 grid at master level.
