2.6 Inside Out

target
Objective

Create a portrait that reveals something deeper about the subject—who they are on the inside, not just how they look.

Choose a Subject
Pick an adult at school or elsewhere whose identity, profession, or story interests you.

Plan the Concept
What do you want the photo to express about them? Think about:

  • Culture or heritage

  • Personal style or interests

  • Dreams, values, or memories

Design the Look
Choose meaningful:

  • Clothing or accessories

  • Props or symbols

  • Poses and facial expression

Set the Scene
Find or create a backdrop that adds to the story (can be a physical space or patterned fabric/wallpaper).

Use natural light or a simple setup. Direct your subject to pose in a way that fits the mood you want.

Retouch your favorite image. Consider the color grading, contrast, and any creative effects that support the identity of your subject.

Consider enhancing the image by adding visual elements that communicate an aspect of the subject’s identity, too.

Photoshop: click on File > Export > Export As and select the JPG format.
All exports should have the long edge equal to 2500px.

Upload your final photo(s) into a gallery block on your WordPress.com website.
