2.3 Levitation
Objective
Tell a story while practicing photo compositing.
| Create a story prompt that includes the levitation of a person. You may use ChatGPT. Then choose the model(s), clothing, props, and location. |
| Use a tripod to take photos of your “empty” scene and then your models(s) on an object that safely raises them from the ground. |
Open your favorite empty photo and model photo in Photoshop. Stack them as layers and align them perfectly. Add a mask to the top layer and edit as needed to create the levitation illusion. Adding a shadow and other elements like flying papers/birds might be necessary. Use color and other creative effects to support the story’s scene. |
| Photoshop: click on File > Export > Export As and select the JPG format. All exports should have the long edge equal to 2500px. |
Upload your photo into a gallery block on your WordPress.com website. Describe the objective of the project, what your chosen story was, and how you approached it. |
Novice (50%)
Student does not complete all steps or submits work incorrectly.
Apprentice (80%)
Student completes most steps, shows weak storytelling, or a weak attention to detail.
Master (100%)
Student completes all steps with strong storytelling and a strong attention to detail.
