Create an animated GIF using the Dolly Zoom (Vertigo Effect) technique to improve understanding of focal length and perspective.
Watch the video above. Create a story/mood to represent that the vertigo effect is a good choice for. Choose a model and location that has depth (hallway, street, trees, track, etc). |
Start with your camera far from the subject and zoomed in at 135mm. Move forward while zooming out to a wider focal length taking 8+ evenly spaced shots until you are at 18mm. Keep your subject center of frame and eye level for each shot. |
Import your sequence of images into Photoshop as layers (File > Scripts > Load Files Into Stack). Open the Timeline panel (Window > Timeline) and create a frame animation. Adjust the timing of each frame for smooth motion. Reverse the animation so that it will zoom in and then out. |
Photoshop: click on File > Export > Save For Web and select the GIF format. This export should have the long edge equal to 1500px. |
Upload your animation into a gallery block on your WordPress.com website. Below, describe the objective of the project and how you approached it. |
