Final: Themed Series
Objective
Create, refine, and present a series of 6+ photographs that communicate a cohesive narrative or theme.
Select a story or theme that you like. Read this article for ideas. Create a mood board with 5+ example images. Add to your site. |
Take 30+ images, experimenting with different angles, framing, and lighting. As a Legendary assignment, the goal is quality over quantity. Make sure all the elements in your photos are top notch (focus, exposure, composition, etc.). |
| Refine your favorite 6+ photos in Lightroom and Photoshop. We will share your progress in peer critiques and to refine your series. |
| Photoshop: click on File > Export > Export As and select the JPG format. |
Upload your photo into a gallery block on your WordPress.com website. Describe the objective of the project and how you approached it. Write an artist statement (150-300 words) explaining:
Participate in a class discussion or presentation about your project. |
Novice (50%)
Student does not complete all steps, has no coherent theme, or submits work incorrectly.
Apprentice (80%)
Student completes most steps, does not create to full potential, or shows a weak attention to detail.
Master (100%)
Student completes all steps meeting their full potential and shows a strong attention to detail.
Grandmaster (Extra Credit)
Student goes above and beyond to create a themed series that shows fantastic ideas, composition, and editing.
